Akki the first Bollywood Producer to go Hollywood

Akshay Kumar is the first Bollywood producer to go Hollywood. This upcoming movie, Breakaway stars Rob Lowe, Russell Peters,  Vinay Virmani, Camilla Belle, Anupam Kher & Akshay Kumar  himself, who plays a cameo in the film. Akshay kumar has made full efforts to reach out his audience. The movie features music videos with International stars like Ludacris ,Drake  and Akshay himself in the videos with music given by Sandeep Chowta  and RDB(Rhythm Dhol Bass).
Alliance Atlantis , one of the largest  distributors have picked up the film for distribution. It is their first movie that they are working for which is produced by an Indian producer. The movie releases on the 30th of September and treated just like a Hollywood release with more than 3,500 prints.  This movie is going to be a curtain raiser at the Toronto Film Festival on  September 10 this year. Breakaway is written by Jeff Schechter and Ajay Virmani, and directed by  Robert Lieberman. The movie’s Indian release will be called Speedy Singhs and the International release will be called Breakaway.
ABOUT THE FILM: Akshay Says, “Breakaway is a touching story about a young Indian Ice Hockey player who wants to get into the big league.” He adds, “I am introducing Vinay Virmani, who is a very good Ice Hockey player in real life as well. The film is about an Indian family wanting to break the stranglehold the Whites have abroad in sports.

The Indo-Canadian culture is existing in Canada for over 100 years. The major inhibitants are Sikhs from Punjab. The Sikh immigrants have faced wide spread identity issues. They even face issues of the locals fearing them to empower more jobs than them which would in return threaten their jobs. There are Indians from all the parts of the world residing in Canada, like Indians from US, Caribbean, Uk, Africa,Middle East, Oceania, etc.

Breakaway is a movie made on similar grounds, which portrays the life of a Sikh family with traditional values and wanting their children to propagate the same culture. It will give you the essence of two extremely distinct cultures with great drama and character quotient. It has a never tried before, Ice Hockey theme with great music composed by Sandeep Chowta and songs by Ludacris & Drake. Akshay Kumar is doing a cameo in the film, as this movie being produced under his production house, Hari Om Productions.

Breakaway to follow your Dreams…

We all have a dream and a passion that grows in us since childhood. Some get to follow their dreams and some dreams are held back due to some external forces. Breakaway is a film which goes around a boy (Rajveer) who too has a dream which transforms into his ultimate passion.  It is shot in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada, portraying the Indo-Canadian culture of a Sikh family.  Rajveer wants to pursue playing as a professional Ice Hockey player and on the other hand, his father wants him to devote his life for the family business.

Unable to get a strong hold on the game, Rajveer decides to form an all Indian hockey team to win the main Championship game. Considering this plan, he needed to have a sponsor and a coach. With his charm and convincing abilities he gets all of his plans on track. In this whole story he meets this pretty girl, who apparently is the coach’s sister and the movie gets the essence of romance.  It is a movie with drama, romance, laughter, color and obviously the cross culture flavor of India and Canada. It’s all about Team Sport… ;)
